The 1983 Nobel Peace Prize

The year is crucial in this question. It would be very easy to get confused with 1975, when Andrei Sakharov was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize but was not allowed to leave the Soviet Union to collect it. His wife Yelena Bonner went in his stead.

Or even 1970, when Alexander Solzhenitsyn was awarded the Literature prize, but didn't feel able to accept it immediately because he feared that he wouldn't be let back into the Soviet Union. He accepted it in 1974, after he was expelled from his home country.
